Start playing

Your first session: home screen, starter, first catch, box, buddy and a first battle.

Before you start

POKEMONU needs to be in your server, and you need a channel where it can read and send messages. If commands do nothing, ask an admin which channel to use or check the getting started FAQ.

Commands come in two forms. Prefix commands start with ! by default (your server may use another prefix). Slash commands start with / and Discord shows them in a menu as you type. Many work both ways; the command reference shows which.

1. Open your home

/start

/start creates your trainer and opens your home screen privately: what’s ready right now (check-in, missions, the next gym, card drops) with a button for each, and doors into every part of the game. New trainers begin with ₽3,000, 15 Poké Balls, 3 Great Balls and an Old Rod.

/start and !start differ slightly. Both open your home, except when a rare-spawn lock is active in a channel — then !start unlocks the channel instead. /start always opens your home.

Prefer a full menu? !play shows every game action as buttons, and !checklist lists everything with a timer today.

2. Choose a starter

!starter !starter charmander

Pick your partner from the 27 starters — the three regional starters from each of the nine regions. Run it with no name to see them all with buttons. You can only choose once.

3. Your first encounter

!wild !fish

!wild finds a wild Pokémon just for you. You get up to three throws, and each miss gives it a chance to run. Better balls help — buy them at the PokéMart with !mart.

Your server may also have server spawns: Pokémon that appear on their own while people chat. Press Catch and type the Pokémon’s name. Admins choose where and how often they appear.

4. Look at your collection

!box !info 1

!box lists every Pokémon you own, with menus to sort (number, newest, IVs, level, Pokédex) and filter (favourites, shiny, rarity, type). Each Pokémon has a box number; use it everywhere.

!info opens a Pokémon’s manager card: evolve, Rare Candy, moves, nickname, favourite, buddy, party and selling. With no number, it shows your buddy.

5. Buddy and party

!select 1 !party 1 2 3 !buddy

Your buddy earns XP and shows on your trainer card. Pet it, give it treats and play fetch with !buddy to build a bond that boosts XP and later your catch chance.

Your party is up to three Pokémon, in order, that fight in battles. !party clear goes back to using your buddy.

6. A first battle

!gym !gym map

The first gym is Rocco’s Pebble Gym (Rock type). The gym screen shows the leader’s team, what each of their Pokémon is weak to and which of yours hits hard. You choose every move, Guard, potion and switch.

Not ready yet? !battle charizard vs gengar runs a quick simulated battle between any two Pokédex Pokémon — it doesn’t use your own.

7. Daily progress

!checkin !missions !pass

!checkin pays ₽ and balls every day, more as your streak grows. You get three missions a day, and the weekly Trainer Pass has 30 tiers filled by almost everything you do. See progression and rewards.
